Conversion rates at Beall`s Department Stores Inc.’s web site increased 20% after the company installed dynamic zoom technology, the company reports. Beall’s says the improvement came within three weeks of installing a zoom product from Scene7 Inc.
Beall’s says the zoom functionality is an important aspect of enticing customers to buy Beall’s house brands. Because many customers spend only a portion of the year in Florida, Beall`s wanted to make its products available online and allow shoppers to view product details.
"Bealls` shoppers want to be able to purchase our private label brands anytime, anywhere, even when they are not near a Beall`s store," says Kim Siefke, e-commerce manager for BeallsFlorida.com. "We wanted to give customers access to all of the products available in our stores through the Internet and be able to offer them an enhanced shopping experience. Scene7`s platform and flexible deployment options provided us the ideal solution to do this."
Beall`s in-house photo takes pictures of all new merchandise and adds 300 to 500 new products to its site each week. Scene7`s rich media platform dynamically generates and delivers unlimited derivatives from single master images. While Beall`s currently uses only Scene7`s dynamic zoom functionality, it says it plans to expand its use of Scene7 to dynamic image sizing, alternative views and color change.
Beall’s operates more than 85 stores in Florida selling apparel, footwear, gifts and housewares.
