Ad hoc reporting module expands capabilities of browser-based loss prevention system deployed by leading retailers

NEWBURGH, N.Y. - March 16, 2004 - CRS Retail Systems, Inc., a software provider helping retailers deploy real-time, high-ROI, applications in stores and throughout the retail enterprise, today announced that J. Crew Group, Inc., a leading retailer of men`s and women`s apparel, shoes and accessories, has deployed the Enhanced Reporting module of CRS LossPrevention™ adding powerful new ad hoc reporting capabilities for investigating suspicious transactions and activity taking place in the stores.

CRS LossPrevention is a browser-based retail application used by loss prevention investigators to identify and research suspicious store activity, more quickly differentiate between innocent mistakes and fraudulent behavior, and manage cases for potential prosecution when necessary. The Enhanced Reporting module, based on the industry leading business intelligence platform from MicroStrategy, augments these functions with ad hoc reporting and analytics capabilities.

"CRS has taken an already valuable application and added even more powerful reporting capabilities needed by customers like J. Crew," said Paul Fusco, chief information officer at J. Crew. "With the addition of the business intelligence module based on MicroStrategy, CRS LossPrevention now has even greater flexibility and value to the business."

Other retailers recently upgrading or selecting CRS LossPrevention, include Blain Farm and Fleet, Cavenders Boot City, Coach, Inc., Northern Tool & Equipment, and Stage Stores.

J. Crew also utilizes the CRS RetailStore POS and Office applications throughout its 190 retail and factory stores.

"J. Crew has consistently collaborated with CRS on new product development and we are pleased to have continued that trend with this upgrade," said Kathy Frommer, chief executive officer of CRS Retail Systems. "Adding the business intelligence capabilities of MicroStrategy to existing exception-based reporting and drill-down analysis, J. Crew is now leveraging new opportunities to analyze POS data for suspicious activity and ultimately reduce theft in the stores."
