Alibaba’s Tmall Global now features goods from 14,500 overseas brands, 80% of them selling in China for the first time.
B2B.az has users from the United States, Russia, China and several European countries.
Though small for an international business-to-business web portal, Azerbaijan-based B2B.az is on a growth spurt, the Asian country’s Ministry of Economy and Industry says.
In a report issued last week, the ministry said more than 10,000 unique businesspeople had visited B2B.az in the first half of this year. That may sound like a small number to web users accustomed to dealing with e-marketplaces with millions of visitors, but it represents about 28% of the 36,000 unique buyers and sellers who have used the site since its launch in 2008.
Moreover, more than 1,800 of the portal’s buyers this year have been from foreign countries, including: the United States, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, China, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Denmark, Greece, India, Indonesia, Latvia and the United Arab Emirates.
B2B.az connects buyers and sellers in three languages: Azerbaijani, English and Russian. The portal was developed by Ministry of Economy and Industry will financial support from the German Society for International Cooperation, an agency owned by the Federal Government of Germany.
