At least one brand’s e-mail prank caused some social media backlash among consumers.
Mark Herrington was an executive at payment processing vendor First Data Corp.
Social media management vendor Shoutlet Inc. yesterday named Mark Herrington CEO. He replaces Jason Weaver, the company’s founder, who stepped down as CEO in April to pursue other entrepreneurial opportunities.
Shoutlet’s technology helps clients, including online retailers, create content and monitor and measure their impact in such online social forums as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
Herrington had previously worked at First Data Corp. most recently as executive vice president of global product management and innovation. He joined the electronic payment processing vendor in 2007, after First Data acquired the Money Network, an electronic payroll distribution vendor that Herrington co-founded in 2001.
“I’m confident Shoutlet’s market position will continue to strengthen through a commitment to building increasingly valuable solutions that enable Shoutlet users to develop new, deeper and longer-lasting relationships with their customers,” says Herrington.
Shoutlet has raised $24.2 million in outside investment to date.
