Portuguese retailer Wook.pt makes back to school easy.
When students were heading back to school, Portuguese retailer Wook.pt aimed to simplify the process of buying school supplies. The site's home page let shoppers search for books by discipline and grade. Or they could click on the Livros Escolares (school books) tab to access an interactive map that showed them, based on a particular school and grade, the books they needed for a particular class. That functionality leverages both the retailer's In-house platform, as well as an access to the database of Portugal's Secretary of Education – Ministério da Educação, says Luis Morais, the retailer's vice-director, e-commerce. The retailer also enables consumers to buy e-books in both English and Portuguese in a variety of formats, including those that work on Amazon.com Inc.'s Kindle Fire e-reader or Apple Inc.'s iPad tablet.
