Women’s apparel retail chain bebe stores inc. has hired Ben Baum as chief digital officer. He comes from Google Inc., where he worked as head of business development, multichannel retail, between June 2011 and October 2012, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Bebe is No. 371 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.
Before Google, Baum held several jobs at Target Corp., No. 23 in the Top 500, including senior group manager, merchandise segmentation. At bebe, Baum will oversee efforts to enable consumers to shop via a variety of channels, including mobile. Baum will report to chairman and CEO Manny Mashouf.
“Ben is a tremendous addition to our team,” says Mashouf. “We look forward to leveraging his digital expertise as we continue to make major investments and upgrades in our digital platforms and infrastructure including mobile, order fulfillment and social media.”
Bebe operates 250 stores and plans to expand globally and allow shoppers to buy products online for in-store pickup, the retailer says.
