A Profitero study showed Target’s online prices were 25% more expensive than Wal-Mart’s, which were just slightly more expensive than prices on Amazon.

Emeryville, CA – May 2, 2012 – Monsoon Commerce, a leading provider of online marketplace and e-commerce business solutions for mid-sized merchants, announced today a 73% increase in first quarter merchant sales of general merchandise compared with the same period in 2011. The company also announced overall positive performance for the quarter and continued success of several key growth initiatives.
In addition to GMV (Gross Merchandise Value) gains in general merchandise categories, media seller revenues grew 9% over the same quarter last year. New customer acquisition continued to accelerate, growing 25% for the period. Monsoon Commerce marketplace integration solutions also posted gains, with 32% more customers in the first quarter of 2012 compared to last year.
The company continued to invest in new product capabilities and improvements, recruitment, and office expansion in the first quarter. In addition to hiring talent in various new positions across locations, Monsoon Commerce relocated the Philadelphia office to a larger space to accommodate personnel to service the growing customer base, including an expanding European presence. The company also continued innovating within its core products, adding support for multiple FBA workflows in the integration of Monsoon Stone Edge and Monsoon Pro.
