OverstockArt.com wants consumers to visualize how its oil paintings will look in their homes and packs the site with shopping tools to help make that possible. High-resolution images let consumers zoom in to see each painting’s brushstrokes, and a shopper can upload a photo of a room in her home and superimpose paintings on it to see how they’ll look—the tool’s also available as an iPhone and Android mobile app. Shoppers can also save and revisit their shopping carts. “That’s great from a lead standpoint because they’ve gotten deep enough in our site to build and have a high level of engagement with us,” CEO David Sasson says. This winter the site will refresh its navigation tools, which include browsing by artist, style, size, color and room type.
