Both social networks today announced new tools that let e-retailers drive sales directly from their platforms.
DJs on more than 500 radio stations will include deal information in their daily banter.
Starting Monday, radio listeners in more than 90 U.S. markets will hear their favorite disc jockeys talk about LivingSocial’s current deals on air. LivingSocial inked a deal with Clear Channel Radio, the owner of 850 U.S. radio stations, that will have DJs talk up LivingSocial’s deals and then direct listeners to the radio stations’ web sites to learn more.
A consumer who visits a participating radio station’s web site will see information about the deals, and if he clicks through and purchases the radio station gets a cut of the sale, a LivingSocial spokesman says; LivingSocial did not say how much that cut will be. More than 500 Clear Channel stations with a reach of more than 80 million listeners each week will participate, the deal provider says. DJs also will talk up LivingSocial’s other offers, such as the travel and entertainment discounts it offers through LivingSocial Escapes and LivingSocial Adventures.
