A record 503 companies will exhibit their technology and services in a sold-out Exhibit Hall at the Internet Retailer Conference & Exhibition 2011 next week in San Diego.

Booth space in the Exhibit Hall sold out in April, seven weeks ahead of the opening of the world’s largest e-commerce show. The 503 companies exhibiting represent a 21% increase over the 417 exhibitors at IRCE 2010 in Chicago, which had previously set the record for online retailing events.

The hall will feature large touch-screen monitors to help attendees find the exhibitors they’re looking for. And a centrally located Navigation Desk will be staffed by technology experts from e-commerce consulting firm FitForCommerce to help attendees decide which exhibitors can address their needs.

The booths will occupy a 218,000-square-foot space within the San Diego Convention Center, an area 23% larger than the IRCE exhibition hall last year at Chicago’s McCormick Place West.

The increase in the number of exhibitors follows the overall growth of the show, says Steve Rogers, exhibition director for Internet Retailer events. Attendance at IRCE has grown at a compound annual growth rate of more than 40% from 2005 to 2010.

In addition to the 695 booth spaces occupied by the 503 exhibiting companies, the Exhibit Hall will also feature a 200-seat E-Commerce Technology Theater where vendors will host scheduled 30-minute informational sessions that will highlight their  e-commerce technologies and services. The sessions will be open to all interested attendees—including those who only visit the Exhibit Hall, says Rogers.

The Exhibit Hall will also be the site of a book signing by special guest speaker Arianna Huffington.

“With more than 500 exhibitors represented at this year’s IRCE, the Exhibit Hall will be full of activity,” says Rogers. “There will be ample opportunities for exhibitors and attendees to meet.”

Attendees will have plenty of time to visit the exhibitors. The Exhibit Hall will be open:

  • Tuesday, June 14, 4:00-7:00 p.m. for an opening reception;
  • Wednesday, June 15, 9:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.;
  • Thursday, June 16, 9:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
