Apple and Dell lead top retailers in response time for September

Apple and Dell had the fastest response times for large retailers in September.

Apple.com and Dell.com gave shoppers the fastest high broadband access times among large web retailers last month, says Gomez, the web performance division of Compuware Corp. In September, Apple.com produced an average response time of 0.99 seconds in Internet Explorer testing. Dell.com led last month’s Firefox web browser test with an average access time of 0.95 seconds.

Newegg.com had the next best Internet Explorer response time with 1 second, followed by CDW.com and Dell.com (tied at 1.13 seconds) and LLBean.com (1.18 seconds).

LLBean.com had the second fastest Firefox response time with an average of 0.96 seconds. Apple.com (0.99), Overstock.com (1.01), and QVC.com (1.02) rounded out the top five.

In September, the average top retailer’s high broadband response time for a shopper using Internet Explorer was 1.93 seconds. The average Firefox response time among the same 20 retailers last month was 1.63 seconds.
