The shopping search engine makes appointments for the U.S. and Chinese markets.
London, 30th September 2010. Twenga, the new-generation shopping search engine, announced today the appointment of four executives to strengthen its international management team. These appointments will allow Twenga to continue the rapid international expansion that has enabled it to enter 15 markets on 4 continents in less than four years.
“I am delighted to welcome such seasoned international executives into Twenga’s management team. These new arrivals strengthen our main competitive advantage: our international DNA. Twenga is one of the few e-commerce companies that was originally designed to operate on a global scale and to fully leverage cross-border opportunities available to Internet businesses,” stated Bastien Duclaux, Twenga’s CEO and co-founder.
Alexandra Troonin, Content Director USA, will lead the US content team. Alexandra and her team will be responsible for increasing the range and relevance of the products available on the US version of Twenga’s shopping search engine. Twenga’s US website, currently in beta version, already displays over 80 million products, and is poised to double its size in the next ten months. A dual national, Alexandra brings to Twenga over 15 years of experience in business analysis and project management which she acquired at leading international corporations such as the Walt Disney Studios in The United States and LVMH and Estee Lauder in France.
Patrick Gu, General Manager China, will lead Twenga’s Chinese operations. In this role, Patrick will develop Twenga’s strategy for the Chinese market and manage Twenga’s sales force and technical operations in Shanghai and Beijing. Before joining Twenga, Patrick was General Manager of Ticketing for Ticketmaster China where he was responsible for the setup and management of online ticketing for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. In addition to his thorough understanding of the Chinese e-Commerce market, Patrick brings to Twenga his expertise in managing advanced technological developments which he acquired in the United States at companies such as Epiphany, NetZero and TRW.
Additionally, Twenga nominated to its Executive Committee in 2010:
Gaël de Talhouet, VP Marketing, responsible for Twenga’s user experience, brand development, and, more generally, consumer marketing. Gaël’s objectives are to gain new users while increasing the loyalty of Twenga’s existing 35 million users. Innovative methods of viral marketing via social media will be one of his areas of focus. Gaël brings to Twenga 20 years of experience in international marketing gained at leading corporations such as L’Oréal, Heineken and KPN, where he took on executive expatriate positions in Brazil, Holland, and other countries.
Thai-Binh Phan, B2B Marketing Director, is responsible for leading the development and marketing of Twenga’s client services. Twenga’s clients are a growing share of the 130,000 merchants indexed on its 15 local sites – those who want to increase their exposure and promote their products. Thai Binh is also responsible for strategic partnerships with e-Commerce solution providers. Before joining Twenga, Thai-Binh was in charge of local web development at the European level at eBay where he leveraged his dual training in engineering and management to initiate new services at a global level.
Twenga, the new-generation search engine enables millions of shoppers throughout the world to find what they want, at the best price, from the online shop of their choice. Thanks to its home-grown technology, Twenga automatically gathers offers from online retailers and displays them in one searchable interface. As a result, Twenga has the most comprehensive listing of online shops. Its search results are objective and not biased by commercial relationships.
Founded in 2006 by Bastien Duclaux and Cedric Anes, Twenga runs 15 sites, including the UK, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Brazil, Russia, the United States, Australia, India and China displaying more than 280 million offerings from more than 130,000 online shops. Twenga’s sites receive more than 35 million visits per month. In January 2010, Twenga won the Red Herring 100 Global Award which recognizes the 100 most innovative companies in the world.
