JD.com and Alibaba create indexes to identify Chinese shoppers’ spending trends, which help retailers gain insight.
Jim Liefer, a Walmart.com veteran, takes over as vice president of operations.
OneKingsLane.com, a members-only home furnishings e-retailer, has added operations, engineering and product executives to its management team.
Ed Komo takes over as vice president of engineering, Jim Liefer as vice president of operations, and Yulie Kim as head of product. All three are new positions.

Komo comes from FanIQ, a social networking site for sports fans, where he was chief technology officer. Prior to that, he worked as vice president of engineering at Jigsaw.com, a business contact directory now owned by Salesforce.com. Komo also has worked as vice president of engineering at travel e-commerce site Hotwire.com. In his new role with OneKingsLane.com, Komo will be responsible for technology initiatives.
Liefer joins One Kings Lane from Walmart.com, where he was vice president of operations. At One Kings Lane, he will carry the same title and work to help the retailer deliver quality customer service. Liefer also was a vice president with UPS Supply Chain Solutions, where he worked with companies including Amazon.com and Walmart.com on logistics and fulfillment services. He also worked as vice president of applications at Fritz Companies, a provider of logistics and fulfillment services owned by UPS.
As head of product at One Kings Lane, Kim will work to improve the retailer’s web site as well as develop mobile and social apps. Kim has held several product leadership positions at eBay Inc., managing teams responsible for eBay’s global buying, advertising integration and loyalty programs. Kim worked in eBay’s North America, International and Motors units, and was involved with Internet marketing, e-mail, daily deals, payments, pricing and selling tools.
