Erin M. Nelson will join Bazaarvoice as its chief marketing officer, the ratings and reviews vendor said today. She will leave her job as chief marketing officer at Dell Inc. within the next few weeks, a Bazaarvoice spokeswoman says.
Dell, No. 3 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, today named Karen Quintos as the computer retailer’s new chief marketing officer and senior vice president. She was vice president of marketing for Dell’s global public business. Before that, she worked as vice president of marketing for Dell’s Americas commercial business. She has also held other executive roles in Dell’s services, contact center management and supply chain teams.
More than 950 brands including Dell, Costco Wholesale Corp. and Macy’s Inc. use ratings and reviews technology from Bazaarvoice. Nelson replaces Sam Decker, who announced his resignation last month to pursue what the vendor calls venture opportunities.
Nelson become Dell’s chief marketing officer in January 2009, the vendor says. Prior to that, she spent three years in Europe as the company’s vice president of marketing for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
“She fundamentally understands the power of the customer conversations and word of mouth, and she is widely recognized as someone who embraced social early,” says Brett Hurt, founder and CEO of Bazaarvoice. “She will play a key role as we cement our leadership and bring the transformative benefits of customer conversations to more and more companies around the globe.”
Quintos joined Dell in 2000 from Citigroup. She worked for the financial institution as vice president of global operations and technology. She also spent 12 years with Merck & Co., where she served in marketing, planning, operations and supply chain jobs.
