Lindy Rawlinson, vice president web operations and new business of Neiman Marcus, will lead off the second Internet Retailer Web Design Conference, Jan. 19-22, 2009, in Miami.
Rawlinson’s Keynote Address on Jan. 20 will discuss how the No. 1 luxury retailer on the web creates a straightforward elegant design while incorporating advanced functionality and how to keep a design and merchandising approach fresh without having to overhaul a site’s design frequently.
“We’re delighted to welcome Ms. Rawlinson as our Keynote Speaker,” says Jack Love, publisher of Internet Retailer. “Few retailers know what motivates customers as well as Neiman Marcus does and they have ably translated that insight and ability to the web.”
The conference will also feature presentations by Kevin Ertell, vice president of e-business for Borders Books and Music, and Mark Carson, CEO of FatBrainToys.com. Ertell will discuss how Borders created a stand-alone site with the latest innovations after years of relying on Amazon for e-commerce services. Carson will talk about how a small retailer can design a robust site on a budget while incorporating some of the same merchandising, features and functionality of larger competitors.
The Internet Retailer Web Design Conference will start Jan. 19 with a day of free web site design consultations. The consultations will continue through Jan. 21. Attendees sign up before the conference and each attending company can receive up to two consultations.
The two full days of the main conference, Jan. 20 & 21, will be followed by a one-day Web Site Redesign Workshop on Jan. 22 that will feature three case studies of retail site redesigns in the morning and live, on-the-spot, in-depth critiques of attendees’ sites in the afternoon.
Speakers will address such topics as how to choose the right design partner, how to know when a site is ready for a redesign, managing videos at retail web sites, prioritizing a design plan, how to accommodate different objectives by different departments into one design, how to design to leverage social networks and technology, and more.
The Internet Retailer Web Design Conference will take place at the restored Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach, which has just undergone a $1 billion renovation.
