Shopping search engine ShopWiki has hired Barry Salzman as COO. He is the former president of DoubleClick Global Media. Salzman’s responsibilities will be to expand ShopWiki`s infrastructure and scale the company for international growth. ShopWiki, which launched in the United States in April, plans to launch in an additional five countries by the end of this year.
Salzman served at DoubleClick from 1997 to 2002, first as president of DoubleClick International, then as president of DoubleClick Global Media. He developed and implemented the company`s international start-up strategy, launching both media and technology enterprises outside of the United States.
Salzman`s prior work experience also included positions with AEA Investors Inc., McKinsey & Co. and Salomon Brothers Inc.
ShopWiki is a shopping search engine that crawls the Internet to find and index products from more than 120,000 retail stores. It features more than 1,300 buying guides written and edited by users. The site does not accept data feeds or charge for inclusion.
It was founded in 2005 by Kevin Ryan, former DoubleClick CEO, Dwight Merriman, DoubleClick co-founder and former CTO, and Eliot Horowitz.
