Ritz Interactive’s holiday sales rise 30% over year ago

December sales at Ritz Interactive, which operates 20 retail web sites, are running about 30% over last December.

December sales at Ritz Interactive, which operates 20 retail web sites that sell cameras, boating supplies and other products, are running about 30% above last December. A new gift certificate program is helping drive up sales, and gift-buying is pushing up December sales 40% at Ritz’s BoatersWorld.com, CEO Fred H. Lerner tells InternetRetailer.com.

In addition to the gift certificate program, which is only available online for online purchases, Ritz is also benefiting from a more effective affiliate marketing program, Lerner says, adding that Ritz consolidated all of its affiliate programs this year through ValueClick Inc.’s Be Free affiliate management service.

Ritz’s web sites are also benefiting from infrastructure upgrades that have increased speed of page downloads and improved site functionality, Lerner says. Ritz this year upgraded its e-commerce platform to the latest version of IBM’s Websphere and increased server capacity, he adds.

The Ritz Interactive network includes several sites that cater to photography and sports fishing, such as BoatersWorld, RitzCamera.com, WolfCamera.com and OutbanksOutfitters.com. It also operates InsanitySauce.com, which specializes in hot sauces and related snacks.
