CEO Sharon Price John says Build-A-Bear’s old e-commerce system is a big reason for disappointing online sales in December.
Sales at OmahaSteaks.com are running 27% ahead of last year, which itself was 40% ahead of the year before. The company attributes the increase to new products and web site enhancements, such as gift lists.
Sales at Omaha Steaks International Inc.’s OmahaSteaks.com this year are running well ahead of last year as the company continues to roll out new online purchasing features, Jim Paschal, president of OmahaSteaks.com, tells Internet Retailer.
"So far this year, we have experienced a 27% increase in sales over last year," Paschal says. And that follows a 40% increase in sales for 2001 over 2000. He adds that conversion rates are on a pace this year to continue the annual double-digit increases that OmahaSteaks.com has experienced.
Among the new purchasing features is a gift list designed to let customers more easily send items to people they’ve previously shipped to. Another feature allows customers to create a "Gourmet Favorites" list of products they’ve previously ordered, making re-ordering easier.
In addition, OmahaSteaks.com is offering overstocks and daily specials, such as a "steak sampler" of 6 cuts of meat, including Filet Mignon, for $49.99, off from a list price of $91.
