A discussion among e-commerce executives about how to extract profit from large sets of data
The challenge of effectively managing and analyzing large data sets has been given a name: Big Data. That phrase sums up the hard work involved in figuring out the meaningful relationships within large quantities of data and how to report them in a way that e-commerce managers can use.
Executives from several such forward-looking companies gathered in June for a discussion of the "Big Data Challenge" hosted by PCA Predict and Internet Retailer. In all, 16 e-retailers, business-to-business suppliers, technology providers and journalists participated in the discussion, which took place during IRCE 2015. The gathering produced a wide-ranging conversation that not only revealed success stories, but failures, frustrations and the challenges of harnessing the potential of Big Data.
