Paul Okimoto also worked for The Nielsen Co.
The Sports Authority Inc. has hired Paul Okimoto as chief marketing officer.
He comes from RadioShack Corp., where from February 2010 until March he was vice president of marketing. Before that, he held the same position at The Nielsen Co., a market research firm.
His new job puts him in charge of store and e-commerce marketing plans.
“Paul has a proven track record of leading innovative marketing strategies for a variety of national retailers and brands,” says Darrell Webb, chairman and CEO of Sports Authority. “His expertise in acquiring and retaining profitable customers and identifying new market opportunities and strategic partnerships will be extremely valuable to Sports Authority as we focus on continued growth over the long term.”
In the brand new Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, Sports Authority stands at No. 245, down from No. 161 in the previous edition. SportsAuthority.com, launched in 1999, had a return shopper rate of 44% in 2012, according to one of the data points contained within the new rankings.
RadioShack is No. 296 in the new Top 500, down from No. 275 last year. The guide also shows that 28% of the visitors to RadioShack.com, which also launched in 1999, are at least 55 years old.
Sports Authority says it operates more than 475 stores in 43 states.
