11% of online traffic to OrganicBouquet.com has been coming from mobile devices, which sounded an alert to company executives that it was time to jump into mobile commerce.
Today, Organic Bouquet Inc., No. 920 in the Internet Retailer Second 500 Guide, has launched an m-commerce site to accommodate the thousands of monthly unique visitors, based on data in the Second 500 Guide, using iPhones, Android devices and other smartphones.
“We are pleased to offer our loyal consumers a simpler way to shop for and send thoughtful, sustainable gifts,” says Robert McLaughlin, CEO. “This mobile traffic has certainly caught our attention, and we look forward to exploring this avenue further as we expand our business to capture even more of the mobile market.”
The e-retailer of eco-friendly and organic gifts moved to launch the m-commerce site in advance of the Easter and Mother’s Day holidays, it says. It built the site in-house. The home page features a hero shot of flowers immediately below a prominent site search box and a shopping cart icon. Below the image are category bars for navigating the m-commerce site. Categories include Birthday, Flowers, Plants/Wreaths, Gourmet and Gift Clubs. Touching a category bar drops down a list of sub-categories without the need for a page refresh.
Organic Bouquet says it is planning to launch a new m-commerce marketing program with incentives to drive traffic to the mobile site.
