Live Nation debuts a ticket-selling app

The app includes concert listings, artist set lists, concert photos and videos.

Live Nation Entertainment Inc. has found a new venue to sell tickets: mobile phones. The entertainment company, owner of Ticketmaster.com, today launched an iPhone app that enables consumers to purchase event tickets.

In addition to selling tickets, the free Live Nation App offers access to concert listings and to pre-sales and last-minute tickets. Consumers can also browse more than 20,000 artist and band set lists, view concert photos and videos, and get concert updates such as notification that a tour schedule has been changed. The app, which was built in-house, enables fans to virtually check in with friends at shows, browse and discover upcoming concerts nearby, and view venue seating charts.

 “Our first app for iPhone and iPod Touch enables fans to access concert information and tickets at their fingertips,” says Michael Rapino, president and CEO. “This is another digital tool that enhances the live experience and makes it easier for fans to stay connected to their favorite artists in a mobile environment.”

Additionally, for select Live Nation shows, app users can receive alerts when artists go on stage and also see what song they are playing at any time during a set. For now, that feature is only available at some venues in New York, Hollywood, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco and Dallas.

Fans can download the app from the Apple App Store and also can connect to it directly from iTunes on their iPhone or iPod Touch devices.
