The plus-size women’s apparel retailer debuts an m-commerce site and iPad app.
OneStopPlus.com has debuted an m-commerce web site through which consumers can browse, search, shop and buy. The plus-size women’s apparel merchant also has released an iPad app, enabling the same experience but optimized for the larger screen of Apple Inc.’s new tablet computer.
“OneStopPlus.com has truly become a part of its customers’ lives and they have told us that they want access to the site and its community at all times,” says Stephanie Sobel, president of the OneStopPlus.com division of Redcats USA LP, No. 31 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide. “This technology allows us the opportunity to provide selection and convenience in the way they shop, as well as what they are shopping for, and is yet another example of the empowerment that we consistently provide to fashionable plus-size women.”
The OneStopPlus.com iPad application, built in-house, is available for free download in Apple Inc.’s App Store. The OneStopPlus.com mobile site, built by m-commerce technology provider Digby and accessed through the same URL as the e-commerce site, is specifically optimized for mobile phones using the iPhone, BlackBerry and Android operating systems.
Smartphones using the BlackBerry operating system account for 41.7% of the market, smartphones using the iPhone operating system account for 24.4% and smartphones using Android account for 13.0%, according to comScore Inc. So by optimizing m-commerce sites for just those three operating systems or by optimizing for mobile app platforms, OneStopPlus.com takes care of 79.1% of the smartphones in use.
OneStopPlus.com currently is in the final testing phase for iPhone and Android apps, built by Digby. The merchant says the apps will be released in the near future.
