Snapfish’s retail pickup locations reach 10,000 under Wal-Mart deal

Customers of online photo service Snapfish can now upload photos for processing to Snapfish.com and pick them up in an hour at a Wal-Mart store.

Online photo service Snapfish by HP is partnering with Wal-Mart Stores Inc. Inc to enable customers to pick up prints of photos they upload for processing to Snapfish.com at Wal-Mart stores.

Customers can now pick up photo prints or photo cards ordered on Snapfish at any of the participating 3,350 Wal-Mart stores as soon as one hour after placing their orders, Snapfish says. Snapfish customers locate and select a Wal-Mart store for pickup by entering their ZIP code at checkout.

Snapfish is a unit of the HP Home & Home Office Store, No. 16 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.

“We are committed to offering Snapfish customers the ultimate choice and convenience when it comes to printing their digital photos and gifts,” says Ben Nelson, general manager, Snapfish by HP. Snapfish, which also recently announced a similar prints distribution partnership with New York drugstore chain Duane Reade Inc., says the new relationships expand the number of retail locations where its prints are available for pickup to about 10,000 nationwide.

With online orders expected to represent nearly half of all retail photo printing within a few years, according to research firm InfoTrends Research, the partnership is expected to make Snapfish.com one of the largest print-to-store web destinations in the U.S.

Walmart.com, No. 13 in the Top 500 Guide, will continue to offer its customers online photo processing and store pickup services.
