Web experience management firm Gomez Inc. has introduced a major platform upgrade, simultaneously releasing integrated enhancements to its web load testing, web performance management and web cross-browser testing solutions, all for optimizing web and mobile sites and web and mobile applications.
For retailers delivering rich web and mobile experiences, the upgraded Gomez software-as-a-service platform provides the most integrated and cost-efficient solution for optimizing the performance and quality of Web 2.0 technology, rich Internet applications, streaming and mobile applications, the company says. The upgrade includes new technology to test rich Internet application transactions, an expanded family of multi-browser testing agents that measure web performance for different browsers, and a new diagnostics dashboard designed to reduce the time it takes to discover the root cause of a performance issue.
“Gomez’s platform-wide refresh offers strong advantages for its customers and will challenge market competition,” says Dennis Drogseth, vice president of Enterprise Management Associates Inc., an information technology research firm that works with Gomez. “If there are two consistent themes to the overall refresh it is the cohesiveness with which user experience can be interpreted, analyzed and diagnosed, on the one hand, and the full bore commitment to advancing technology requirements-in particular Web 2.0, browser diversity and mobility.”
Mobility is a significant part of the platform upgrade. Expansion of Gomez’s automated cross-browser testing solution now supports 5,000 mobile devices. The new platform integrates Gomez’s recently introduced suite of experience management tools for mobile sites and applications. The suite includes new capabilities for testing, monitoring and benchmarking the performance of mobile web sites, mobile applications and text message services.
