Web and catalog pet products retailer Drs. Foster and Smith is moving into retail stores next week with the launch of dog food and dog furniture products at 898 Target stores.
Web and catalog pet products retailer Drs. Foster and Smith Inc. is moving into retail stores on July 15 with the launch of dog food and dog furniture products at 898 Target Inc. stores.
Drs. Foster and Smith, No. 85 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, has focused on veterinarian-recommended and formulated products since its first product introduction more than 20 years ago, and has been selling online since 1998.
Drs. Foster and Smith wants to reach an expanding customer base with the Target deal, while continuing to drive home pet-centered education, says Dr. Race Foster.
“Our first priority is the comfort, wellness and care of our customer’s pets. Having a retail partner that understands the need to better educate the customer is a real plus,” Foster says. Gaining shelf space in Target stores enables the company to “educate and positively influence a far greater segment of the pet-loving market.”
Through information-focused packaging, consumers will be encouraged to visit the DrsFosterSmith.com and PetEducation.com web sites where they can read thousands of articles on pet care, the company says.
Dog food and furniture products will be displayed on end caps at the Target stores. About 15,000 pet products are available on the e-commerce site. Target is No. 19 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.
