Direct marketer and online retailer Crutchfield Corp. is cruising deeper into the Canadian market with an expanded e-commerce site.
Crutchfield, No. 89 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, has expanded CrutchfieldCanada.com to carry more than 1,000 items, including TVs, home audio/video products and accessories and car audio/video gear.
During 2007 CrutchfieldCanada.com also will be adding lines of merchandise, including digital cameras. To ensure faster order processing and delivery, CrutchfieldCanada.com will ship directly from its warehouse in Mississauga, Ontario. Most orders will be processed in one to two days, the company says.
“We are making a concerted effort to expand very carefully into the Canadian market,” says Bill Crutchfield, founder and CEO.
Crutchfield joins a growing list of U.S. web retailers looking for more e-commerce opportunities in Canada. About 58% of Canada’s population is online, only slightly behind the U.S. penetration rate of 63%, according to eMarketer Inc.
Canadian broadband growth has exceeded the U.S. rate, with 59% of Canadian households connected via a high-speed Internet connection, compared with 44% of U.S. households, eMarketer says.
