Google Base now contains nearly 2 billion product listings that Google uses to power several of its sites including Google.com and Froogle. In order to make product searches more effective for consumers, Google has now mandated the inclusion of general attributes like product type, brand and color, as well as targeted attributes, such as megapixels for digital cameras and sizes for clothing.
Online retailers that submit products lacking attributes to Google Base will suffer significantly reduced visibility – in fact, their products may be completely removed from Google’s sites.
