Online exercise equipment retailer Smooth Fitness appoints new COO

The home exercise equipment market is growing online. Marc Cerceo brings more than 20 years of experience in finance, operations and start-ups to Smooth Fitness and online sales channel SmoothFitness.com

Online fitness equipment retailer Smooth Fitness has hired Marc Cerceo as its chief operating officer, the company has announced. Most recently COO at Pat Croce & Co., Cerceo brings more than two decades of experience in finance, operations, start-ups and executive management in the private and public sectors to Smooth Fitness, says company CEO Joe Alter.

“The fitness equipment industry is experiencing explosive growth, particularly in online sales,” Alter says. “With Marc’s experience in the industry and in operations, Smooth Fitness will now achieve even greater growth in the category.”

As COO, Cerceo will oversee daily operations of a $20 million organization and manage a staff of 40. Prior to his position at Pat Croce & Co., he was CEO of the Philadelphia chapter of the American Red Cross. Cerceo also previously served as director of finance and administration of the Cara Company, a privately held computer service organization, and as controller for the Aztech Corp., also a privately owned computer service organization. Early in his career, he was a corporate accountant for The Washington Post Co. and was a senior accountant for the Cigna Corp.
