America`s largest video game and entertainment software retailer to bring .NET in-store
Montreal, Canada, March 8, 2004 - NSB announces today that $1.5 billion retailer GameStop has signed a license agreement for NSB`s Connected Retailer® Store version 6.0, a POS solution that is first-to-market with Microsoft`s breakthrough .NET® technology.
GameStop is the nation`s largest video game and entertainment software specialty retailer, operating over 1,500 retail stores throughout 49 states, Puerto Rico, and Ireland as well as their online channel GameStop.com, all of which serves over 30 million visitors each year.
When the retail giant was looking for a provider to replace their legacy POS system, they decided NSB had the right strategic direction. "Microsoft .NET will help us lower our total cost of ownership with such advantages as extended hardware lifetime, reduced modification costs, extendibility, and protected upgrade paths," says Jeff Donaldson, Chief Information Officer for GameStop Corp. "We look forward to a Store Solution that is highly functional and extremely flexible in adapting to the unique nuances of our business."
Dave Shoemaker, Senior Vice-President Sales, NSB Group, is excited about the new partnership with the cutting-edge retailer. "GameStop has an extremely successful formula in this fast-growing, dynamic business. They run a large number of stores on a very low IT operating budget, and so TCO is very important to them," Shoemaker comments. "GameStop recognizes the competitive advantage .NET offers their business, and we`re looking forward to helping them realize the value of Connected Retailer Store 6.0 throughout their global operations."
Connected Retailer Store Solution 6.0 is a best-of-breed store automation system that gives retailers unparalleled flexibility to offer the best customer service. Using the power of XML, Web Services, and the .NET framework, retailers can decide where each business function actually runs without requiring additional development - thereby allowing flexible deployment models such as thin-client or even thin-store (a centrally-hosted system). Connected Retailer Store 6.0 enables retailers to rapidly respond to changing in-store needs by taking advantage of the highly configurable nature of the 6.0 product or by extending the application using .NET inheritance.
