– Next Generation Interaction Management Extends Beyond the Contact Center –
Oakbrook Terrace, IL – June 23, 2003 – Apropos Technology (NASDAQ: APRS), the leading provider of Enterprise Interaction Networks, today announces the general availability of Version 6.0 Enterprise Edition of the company’s flagship Multi-Channel Interaction Management Suite. Representing the culmination of two (2) years of product development, the Version 6.0 Enterprise Edition solution is Apropos’ next generation of interaction management solutions that will change where, when and how organizations will manage mission-critical business communications.
“We are rapidly evolving Apropos into an enterprise-class application infrastructure provider,” states Kevin Kerns, Apropos’ president and chief executive officer. “The business processes that depend upon the coordination of customer, vendor, and employee interactions are no longer confined to the contact center. These processes transcend applications, business units, and a corporation’s physical boundaries. The integration, mobility, scalability, and fault-tolerance architected into this new release enable Apropos to provide core infrastructure to our clients in support of mission-critical business processes, wherever they may reside within the organization.”
Key highlights of the Version 6.0 product suite include:
• Improved Integration Capabilities:
o Open APIs: Version 6.0 introduces APIs for all interaction management functions, including key reporting and system administration applications. These open APIs enable specific Apropos functionality, or complete applications, to be embedded within existing line-of-business applications for seamless management of multi-channel communications.
o J2EE: Version 6.0 is built on a J2EE architecture, with a complete set of Java-based APIs that make it possible to integrate Apropos interaction management capabilities throughout the enterprise in a form fully compliant with today’s prevailing e-business integration standards.
o Embedded application support: With “browser-based” business applications becoming increasingly popular, the ability to seamlessly integrate interaction management within these browser environments has become essential. With the introduction of Java-based APIs, Version 6.0 supports seamless integration with any browser-based business application.
o Modular Switch Integrations: Apropos provides modular switch integrations with support for the widest range of today’s existing circuit- and packet-based voice switches, simplifying communications infrastructure management in the multi-site, multi-switch environments prevalent in today’s mission-critical contact centers. Apropos makes it possible for enterprises to augment their voice switching infrastructure without having to worry about technology compatibility issues. With Version 6.0, businesses can select, augment, or upgrade switching infrastructure based solely on their business requirements.
• Increased Platform Intelligence:
o Speech Recognition: Version 6.0 has been voice-enabled to support spoken command capabilities for self-service and system management.
o Smart Classification: Apropos will incorporate state-of-the-art “natural language” processing capabilities to enhance its eService offerings and add an improved level of “self-service” automation.
• Enterprise-Class Infrastructure Upgrades:
o Sun/Solaris: Version 6.0 will now run in Sun Microsystems` Solaris OS environments, complementing our existing 32-bit MS Windows product.
o Oracle: Version 6.0 introduces support for Oracle RDBMS’, complementing our existing SQL Server capabilities and expanding the applicability of the Apropos solutions to Oracle-based enterprise environments.
o Scalability: Versions 6.0 has been architected to significantly increase scalability and system capacity, greatly enhancing the ability to handle ever-larger user counts and interaction volumes. With Version 6.0, Apropos’ solutions can scale to support the largest contact center and enterprise environments.
o Reliability / Fault Tolerance: With the Version 6.0 introduction, the Apropos solution now provides “enterprise-class” reliability to meet the needs of the most demanding, high transaction environments.
Customer & Partner Comments:
“Having been involved with the version 6.0 release throughout the Beta process and now in production with the GA release, we are pleased to see the release come to market,” states Pete Apostolou, Lending Solutions’ Director, Call Center Operations. “Of the many new capabilities of the solution, service level management across all interaction types and the open architecture have to be the most important to us. Supporting hundreds of clients with tens of thousands of interactions per day requires precise management of the interaction and seamless integration with our existing business processes and applications. Apropos Version 6 is delivering for both.”
”For the past eight years, we have worked closely with Apropos to deliver mission-critical interaction management solutions for key clients including Crystal Decisions, Pacific Blue Cross, and Pepsi Bottling Group,” stated Larry Schreiner, Vice President and General Manager, at LGS, an IBM Company. “The flexibility in the new Version 6.0 Enterprise Edition solution, as a system integrator, expands the value of the solutions we can develop and deliver for our clients on Apropos’ multi-channel platform.”
