Hardware & Home Improvement is one of the areas where web sales are growing rapidly. There are 21 retailers in this category ranked in the 2014 Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, and they grew their web sales 32.85% in 2013 over 2012. The total hardware/home improvement sector grew only 5.34% in 2013, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce, so e-commerce took some market share.
But there is still plenty of room for growth. Top 500 online retailers still only accounted for 1.1% of U.S. purchases of hardware and home improvement products in 2013.
