Top 500 retail chain Urban Outfitters Inc. has hired Trish Donnelly as president.

Urban Outfitters, which sells apparel and accessories, is No. 48 in the Internet Retailer 2013 Top 500 Guide. Besides Urban Outfitters, the company’s brands include Anthropologie and Free People.

Donnelly comes from men’s and women’s apparel store and web retailer Steven Alan Holdings LLC, where she has worked as president since October 2011, according to her LinkedIn profile. Before that, she was executive vice president at J. Crew Group Inc., No. 56 in the Top 500. She had held that job since 2004.

“Trish is a strong leader who brings with her a deep understanding of the direct-to-consumer channel as well as an extensive background in merchandising,” says Urban Outfitters CEO Richard Hayne. “We are delighted to have Trish join our executive team and believe she will play an instrumental role in the Urban brand’s ongoing growth story.”

The company operates 230 Urban Outfitters and 187 Anthropologie stores in the United States, Canada and Europe. Late last year, Urban Outfitters announced plans to build a 1.2-million-square-foot distribution and fulfillment facility in Gap, PA. It will be the retailer’s third distribution center dedicated to fulfilling web orders.
