Retailers shift their ad spending from TV, radio and print ads to digital ads.
The retailer, which primarily sells computers and electronics, will now also sell over 35,000 SKUs of home décor, furniture, pool supplies and luggage.
TigerDirect.com, a subsidiary of Systemax Inc., No. 25 in Internet Retailer's 2013 Top 500 Guide, announced yesterday an expansion of its product offering into four new categories. The retailer, known for selling technology and electronics, now sells home décor, furniture, pool supplies and luggage.
“We at TigerDirect are thrilled to be testing several new marketplaces with our home-based category additions,” says Steven Leeds, director of marketing. “TigerDirect is dedicated to offering top-of-the-line products by well-respected brands to meet the home needs of our consumer, while continuing to satisfy their technology needs all under one roof.”
TigerDirect, which has been selling computers and consumer electronics for over 25 years, says it decided to expand into the new categories based on the needs of its customers as expressed through social media and other feedback.
“For years we’ve catered to the DIY community and we have very loyal fans, but now we want to expand out and offer that service, content and expertise to even more customers,” says Leeds.
TigerDirect.com also started accepting Bitcoin as a form of payment recently, also in response to customers’ requests, the e-retailer says. It reported last month that customers had purchased more than $1 million worth of goods with bitcoins.
