An Ecuadorian Navy helicopter airlifted Amazon.com Inc. CEO Jeff Bezos from a cruise ship in the Galapagos Islands and delivered him to his private jet on Baltra Island on New Year’s Day. Bezos reportedly fell ill with a kidney stone attack while vacationing.

Bezos, 49, returned to the United States for treatment. An Amazon spokesman says he’s recovering and required no surgery.

“Galapagos: five stars. Kidney stones: zero stars,” Bezos wrote in an e-mail distributed by a spokesman.
