Brian Tilzer takes over as chief digital officer for the drugstore chain.
Drugstore chain CVS Caremark Corp. has hired Brian Tilzer as its senior vice president, chief digital officer. He was senior vice president, global e-commerce, for office supplies retail chain Staples Inc., a job he had held since 2010.
CVS is No. 88 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, while Staples is No. 2.
"We know that digital tools, such as mobile, social media and other online platforms, are a convenient and easy way for our customers to manage their health and access our products," says Helena Foulkes, executive vice president and chief health care strategy and marketing officer for CVS Caremark. "Brian has a proven track record of developing innovative strategies that build business and enhance customer service. I am confident that his experience with digital innovation will help us engage with our customers even more, helping them on their path to better health."
Staples hired Tilzer in in 2007 at its vice president, strategy, North American retail, technology business development, according to his LinkedIn profile. His other job there included vice president, strategy, North American delivery. During Tilzer’s time as e-commerce vice president, the office supplies chain closed some of its stores, increased its investments in the web, and opened its e-commerce-focused Velocity Lab in Cambridge, MA to develop e-retail and mobile commerce programs.
Prior to Staples, Tilzer worked at Linens 'n Things as senior vice president, strategy and business development, a job he held from 2002 to 2006. His new employer, CVS, was recently named Hot 100 retailer following a site redesign of CVS.com.
