Apple leads response time tests in January
Apple posts the fastest IE and Firefox response times, says Compuware Gomez.

Apple.com produced the best high broadband access times among 22 large web retailers tested in January, according to Compuware Gomez. Last month, Apple.com posted the fastest response time in Internet Explorer tests with an average load time of 0.70 seconds and the fastest Firefox load time with an average of 0.62 seconds.
Costco.com finished in second place in Internet Explorer tests at 1.18 seconds, followed by Dell.com (1.19), HPShopping.com (1.65) and Walmart.com (1.69).
Costco.com also finished second in last month’s Firefox response time tests with an average of 0.76 seconds. Dell.com (0.84) came in third, followed by LLBean.com (0.88) and Overstock.com (1.05).
The average large retailer’s high broadband response time for a shopper using Internet Explorer in January stood at 3.04 seconds, the Compuware Gomez study shows. The average Firefox response time among the same group of retailers was 2.12 seconds.
Response time is the average time it takes to fully download a web site’s content.
