One of every five beauty purchases online is made via the Amazon marketplace, according to a new report.
Kindle e-readers and Kindle Fire tablets occupy Amazon’s top four sales spots.
Many consumers will be unwrapping Kindle e-readers and Kindle Fire tablets this Christmas morning. Amazon.com Inc. has revealed that this Black Friday, the busy shopping day following Thanksgiving, and Cyber Monday, the subsequent Monday that is one of the busiest online shopping days of the year, were the best sales days ever for its line of seven Kindle devices.
Cyber Monday 2012, Nov. 26, was the biggest day ever for Kindle sales worldwide. Amazon declines to give exact sales figures. Amazon.com, No. 1 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, offered a special deal on Cyber Monday—$129 for the Kindle Fire, down from $159. It turned out to be the most successful Cyber Monday deal ever for Amazon, the e-retailer says.
The top four spots on the worldwide Amazon best sellers list for nearly three months are occupied by Kindle e-readers and Kindle Fire tablets. Nine out of the top 10 best-selling products on Amazon worldwide since Sept. 6 are Kindles, Kindle accessories and digital content. The Kindle Fire HD tablet is the most gifted and most wished for product on Amazon worldwide since its launch Sept. 6.
“Kindle e-readers and Kindle Fires have held the top four spots on the Amazon worldwide best sellers list since launch, and that was before the busiest shopping weekend of the year,” says Dave Limp, vice president of Amazon Kindle. “We’re excited that customers made this Black Friday and Cyber Monday the best ever for Kindle worldwide—Cyber Monday was the biggest day ever for Kindle sales, and we’re looking forward to millions of customers opening a new Kindle this holiday season.”
Kindles are for sale on Amazon.com as well as at Best Buy, Radio Shack and Staples. There are seven Kindle models. An entry-level Kindle sells for $69, Kindle Paperwhite $119, Kindle Paperwhite 3G $179, Kindle Fire 7-inch tablet $159, Kindle Fire HD 7-inch tablet $199, Kindle Fire HD 8.9-inch tablet $299, and Kindle Fire HD 8.9-inch 4G tablet $499.
