Asok Boopathy helped launch PayPal’s in-store payments service.
E-commerce platform provider BigCommerce has hired Asok Boopathy as vice president of product.
He comes from PayPal Inc., where he most recently worked as group product manager, emerging products, and head of multichannel products for the payment services arm of eBay Inc. BigCommerce says Boopathy helped to guide the launch of PayPal's point-of-sale payments tool, which enables consumers to make purchases via PayPal in bricks-and-mortar stores operated by The Home Depot Inc. and other retail chains. Home Depot is No. 42 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.
“He had a huge impact at PayPal, understands e-commerce inside out and most importantly knows that in our business, it's all about driving sales for clients through e-commerce, over and above everything else,” says BigCommerce co-founder Mitchell Harper. “Asok is building the smartest product team in the world and there are a lot of amazing new features and projects launching in the next few weeks and months.”
Boopathy began at PayPal in 2005, according to his LinkedIn profile. His previous experience includes building data mining systems as an architect at payment card network American Express.
