StrongMail Appoints a Senior Vice President of Marketing

David Atlas has over 20 years of experience building technology brands and helping top marketers grow their business through interactive marketing solutions.

Redwood City, Calif., July 31, 2012 – StrongMail, a leading provider of email marketing and cross-channel marketing solutions for enterprises, today announced the appointment of David Atlas as senior vice president of marketing. A seasoned business-to-business marketer, Atlas has over 20 years of experience building technology brands and helping top marketers grow their business through interactive marketing solutions. In his new role, Atlas will be responsible for StrongMail's global marketing strategy and program execution.

"David's experience and reputation in the email marketing industry make him the ideal executive to broaden awareness of StrongMail’s position as the best-in-class provider of email and cross-channel marketing solutions for enterprise marketers,” said Bill Wagner, chief operating officer at StrongMail. "With StrongMail's position as the only top-tier ESP offering dedicated SaaS or on-premise  solutions, David has a unique opportunity to showcase the performance, personalization, data security and cost benefits that we offer over traditional shared solutions.”

Recently ranked by Forrester Research as one of only six email service providers (ESPs) suitable for enterprise marketers, StrongMail has built a profitable business providing email marketers with the services needed to engage customers with relevant messages based on information from all customer touch points. Forrester specifically called out StrongMail as having perfect scores for customer retention, campaign performance testing and scalability.

“The explosion of customer data from new channels like social and mobile means email marketers now more than ever need a usable and powerful solution for integrating customer insight and refining multistep lifecycle marketing campaigns,” said Atlas. “Whether we’re talking about our cloud-hosted or on-premise solutions, StrongMail’s clients are among the most satisfied customers of any ESP, in large part due to the ease of accessing disparate marketing data sets and deploying sophisticated campaigns. StrongMail’s strategic advantages, along with industry trends, position the company as a stand-out leader."

Atlas was previously SVP of worldwide marketing and sales at email marketing pioneer Goodmail Systems, where he oversaw marketing, sales, and relationships with internet and email service providers. Before Goodmail, Atlas worked at Connectix, where he built the Virtual Server product subsequently acquired by Microsoft. Atlas began his career in the email business, first at Lotus Notes, then at International Data Corporation (IDC) as their senior analyst for email, and later at Worldtalk Corporation as vice president of marketing.
