Investors like eBay after its Q2 earnings report

The online marketplace led the Internet Retailer Online Retail Index last week.

EBay Inc.’s stock price last week jumped 12%, as the online marketplace reported a 23% increase in year-over-year revenue and a 16% rise in net income. EBay’s stock closed at $44.85 on Friday.

That made eBay the top performer last week in the Internet Retailer Online Retail Index, which tracks 25 publicly traded e-retailers and e-commerce technology providers. Overall, the Online Retail Index was flat week over week with a 0.24% increase. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Standard & Poor’s 500 advanced 0.36% and 0.43%, respectively.

Of the 25 stocks in the index, 11 had increases last week, while the stocks of 14 companies decreased in value. Web-only retailer Overstock.com Inc., which reported a 2% increase in sales in the second quarter, was also among the e-commerce winners.

Following are the best-performing stocks last week in the Online Retail Index and the percentage gain in stock price for each:

• eBay Inc., 12.3%

• Overstock.com Inc., 11.0%

• Bluefly Inc., 7.0%

• VistaPrint Ltd., 5.5%

• Amazon.com Inc., 5.4%

Following are the Online Retail Index stocks that performed least well last week and the percentage decrease in stock price for the week:

• U.S. Auto Parts Network, -10.0%

• Vitacost.com Inc., -8.8%

• Groupon Inc., -5.0%

• Netflix Inc., -3.6%

• LivePerson Inc., -2.6%
