David Powers has experience with international retail expansion.
Deckers Outdoors Corp. has hired David Powers as the company’s president of direct to consumer, a job that puts him in charge of the footwear maker’s retail and e-commerce businesses. Powers will assume his new job in August, and will report to Angel Martinez, president, CEO and board chairman.
Deckers is No. 161 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.
Powers comes from Converse, a shoe brand that is a subsidiary of Nike Inc., No. 72 in the Top 500. There, he was vice president of global direct to consumer and licensed retail, a job he had held since 2008. During that time he helped Converse expand into Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America, Deckers says. Powers also has worked for Timberland LLC (No. 334 in the Internet Retailer Top 500) and Gap Inc. (No. 22).
