Retailers shift their ad spending from TV, radio and print ads to digital ads.
The retailer’s GQ Selects web store launches later this month.
Nordstrom Inc. will soon feature a “GQ Selects” store on NordstromMen.com, the men’s section of Nordstrom.com. The products showcased in the web store will be selected by the editors of GQ magazine, and will also be featured in the magazine and on GQ.com.
Nordstrom and GQ say GQ Selects will connect readers who see the fashions in the magazine with a retail outlet where they can buy them.
"We are thrilled to be collaborating with Nordstrom on the successful editorial franchise 'GQ Selects,' which allows our readers to literally shop from the pages of GQ," says Chris Mitchell, GQ vice president and publisher. GQ, formerly known as Gentlemen’s Quarterly, says it has a monthly readership of 7 million.
GQ worked with men’s apparel e-retailer Park & Bond(about the collaboration ), a Gilt Groupe holding, on previous GQ Selects features and shops. Nordstrom’s GQ Selects shop debuts later this month on Nordstrom.com and with the July issue of GQ, and runs through the end of the year, the e-retailer says.
Nordstrom will promote the initiative via social media and with events at its department stores. GQ and Nordstrom are collaborating on the look and photos that’ll merchandise the GQ Selects shop on Nordstrom.com, a Nordstrom spokeswoman says.
Nordstrom is No. 31 in Internet Retailer’s Top 500 Guide. Gilt Group is No. 49.
