But the Internet Retailer Online Index had a modest gain.
Investors liked the double-digit increases in LivePerson Inc.s’ fourth quarter revenue and net income so much last week that it gained 17.9% in value, making it the top performer in Internet Retailer’s Online Retail Index of e-commerce stocks.
LivePerson, which provides live chat services to e-retailers, said it had $36.5 million in fourth-quarter revenue, a 21.9% increase from the year-ago figure of $29.9 million. Net income had an even better performance, increasing 41.6% from $2.74 million in the last quarter of 2010 to $3.88 million in the 2011 fourth quarter.
“The fourth quarter was marked by consistently strong growth rates and operating margins as well as solid cash flow generation, which was on par with the year as a whole,” says Robert LoCascio, CEO. For the year, LivePerson’s revenue was $133.09 million, a 21.1% increase from the 2010 revenue of $109.86 million. Its net income was $12.04 million, a 30.4% increase from 9.23 million in year prior.
