The publisher is pairing with meal-delivery startup Chef’d to sell ingredients for recipes on its NYT Cooking site.
Consumers now can sell unwanted items via the ShopSavvy app.
Consumers tired of that old lamp sitting in the garage, but don’t want to set up an actual garage sale to sell it have a new mobile option. ShopSavvy Inc.’s new SavvyListings service enables consumers to sell their unwanted products via the ShopSavvy app on their smartphones.
SavvyListings is part of the ShopSavvy mobile app, which enables a consumer to scan an item’s bar code to see the item’s price at other local and online retailers. Products entered into SavvyListings show up alongside search results in the “Local Stores” section for new products. Consumers and businesses with ShopSavvy accounts can use SavvyListings, ShopSavvy says.
To sell a product using the free SavvyListings service a consumer scans the product’s bar code with the ShopSavvy app. If the code successfully matches one stored in ShopSavvy’s database, the app displays a product image to confirm the match.
On the results page, the consumer taps the Options button and selects Sell This Product. On the next screen the consumer enters the sale price and selects a condition, such as “gently used.” Buyers and sellers work out the payment and shipping details, ShopSavvy says.
“SavvyListings not only gives our shoppers a way to find gently-used products at an even lower price, but also provides a way for users make some money, too,” says Alexander Muse, ShopSavvy CEO and co-founder.
ShopSavvy says it has 10 million unique users of its shopping app.
