Amazon tablet app lets kids and parents compile wish lists for Santa.
Amazon.com Inc. is making things easier for kids who want to get the word to Santa on what they’d like for Christmas. It has debuted a new tablet app that lets kids and their parents compile wish lists they can share with family and friends.
The e-retailer has released versions of Amazon Santa for the iPad and its new tablet, the Kindle Fire. The app gives kids and parents access to an online catalog of 500,000 family-friendly toys and games, movies and TV shows, books, music, and video games. Parents log in to their Amazon.com accounts. With the tap of a finger, kids and their parents can explore by product category, or type a search term to find an item. They then add items to a wish list, which they can share with friends and family via e-mail. Parents with more than one child can create a wish list for each child.
Parents can review and edit wish lists as needed. Wish lists shared via the Amazon Santa app can only be viewed by family and friends who receive the wish list link via e-mail. The list is hosted on an Amazon.com page. Amazon updates the list as products are purchased, showing friends and family which items Santa has already secured.
Amazon has numerous mobile shopping applications including Amazon Deals for iPhone, Price Check by Amazon for iPhone and Android, Amazon Student for iPhone, Amazon Windowshop for iPad, and the Amazon Mobile App for iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry, Windows Phone 7 and Android-based devices.
