Amazon kicks off its holiday hiring binge

The online retailer plans thousands of temporary fulfillment jobs in three states.

Lead Photo Inc. says it is hiring thousands of temporary warehouse workers for six distribution centers in three states for the 2011 holiday season. Amazon, No. 1 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, says that over the past 12 months, it has made 4,700 temporary employees into full-time workers.

Amazon is hiring for the following fulfillment centers:






• Coffeyville, KS

• Fernley and Las Vegas, NV

• Whitestown, Plainfield and Indianapolis, IN

“We’re looking to hire smart and motivated people across the U.S. to help us deliver a great experience for our customers during the holiday season,” says Dave Clark, vice president of Amazon’s North American operations.

The available jobs are in picking, packing and receiving.
