During outages the site displayed the message: ‘We’re sorry, our site is temporarily unavailable.’
The e-commerce site of lingerie retailer Victoria’s Secret was unavailable for a total of about 80 minutes on Black Friday. During those times the site displayed the message, “We’re sorry, our site is temporarily unavailable,” according to web site performance monitoring firm Catchpoint Systems Inc.
The site was unavailable during three periods from 1:25 p.m. to 3:25 p.m Eastern time., returning briefly twice before showing the error message again. Victoria’s Secret, No. 18 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide did not respond to requests for comment.
Overall, the sites of most major retailers performed well during the heavy Black Friday shopping day, Catchpoint says. The firm monitored the top 55 sites in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide (excluding Netflix Inc., Blockbuster Inc., 1-800-Flowers.com Inc., Scholastic Inc. and Redcats USA).
