Online-only men’s apparel retailer Bonobos today announced the hiring of Michael Hart as its chief technology officer. Hart previously worked as director of engineering for social systems at video rental company Netflix Inc.
Hart, who launched Netflix’s integration with Facebook, will spearhead operations for the opening of West Coast office of Bonobos, which is expected to open in Silicon Valley early next year. Bonobos is based in New York City. He will also oversee a team that will use social network data, consumers’ buying histories and feedback to bolster the retailer’s customer acquisition, personalization, merchandising and e-commerce operations.
Hart’s hiring fits with Bonobos’ focus on making it easier for shoppers to find clothes that fit their preferred styles, says Andy Dunn, the retailer’s CEO and co-founder. “We want to continue to provide an intuitive shopping experience,” Dunn says.
Prior to Netflix, Hart worked at Microsoft Corp. and consulting firm Accenture.
