Foursquare adds Groupon deals to its check-in service.
Foursquare has a new deal for users of the check-in service. Groupon Inc. deals now are included in the Explore tab of foursquare’s mobile app. Groupon says these are Groupon Now offers. Groupon Now enables consumers to access limited-quantity, time-specific deals from merchants within a consumer’s vicinity.
“As you get out and explore your city, just peruse participating Groupon merchants on foursquare, from lunch spots to live events, and purchase your Now deal to apply immediately to your purchase,” Groupon says in its blog. Groupon says Now instant deals are available in 25 cities.
Earlier this month, foursquare added deals from BuyWithMe, another daily deal site. Foursquare also offers deals from LivingSocial, gilt City, zozi and AT&T Interactive’s YP.com unit.
Daily deal competition is heating up. Amazon Inc. said earlier this week its AmazonLocal deals were now available in Chicago, and publisher Gannett Co. Inc. launched its DealChicken daily deal service earlier this week.
